Players have two chances to win every week, with draws on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 10:00 pm CT. Texas was the second state to offer MegaMillions (after Washington), joining in 2003. The iconic game is available in 45 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. Virgin Islands.

The highest-ever MegaMillions jackpot was an amazing $1.537 billion, won by a player in South Carolina on October 23, 2018. The winner waited until March 2019 to claim the prize anonymously.

The biggest MegaMillions win in Texas was $800 million ($404.2 million cash option) on September 10, 2024.

How to Play

Just follow the steps below to start playing. Players must be age 18 or above to participate. Want some ideas for your numbers? Check out Mega Millions Smartpicks for the top hot and cold numbers.

Multiplier

Megaplier is an outdated add-on that has since been replaced by the Multiplier. The Multiplier increases the value of any non-jackpot prize you win and is automatically assigned to a ticket you purchase.

If you hit a prize below the jackpot, its value will be multiplied by the Multiplier number. For example, if 10X is drawn, the $2 million second prize becomes $10 million.

Did you know that Megaplier started in the Lone Star State? It proved so popular that all jurisdictions except California offered it. It was replaced with the Multiplier April 5, 2025.

Prizes and Odds of Winning

Hit the jackpot if you match all six winning numbers. However, with a total of nine ways to win a prize, MegaMillions offers plenty of exciting payouts, including a $2 million prize for matching the five main numbers.
